Background

Born under the Mexican sun, with a blend of Aztec, Basque, Germanic, and Tyrolean roots, it’s no surprise that my professional background is just as versatile and diverse. I have lived in six countries, crossed the US-Canada border by canoe, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a cargo ship—as its only passenger. That journey took me through Europe and parts of the Middle East. Later, I spent two years in Australia, where I completed my Bachelor's degree and fell in love with an entire continent and its people. I then returned to Mexico were I worked until moving to Barcelona upon winning a scholarship to do a Masters degree, I stayed for eight wonderful years. Now, I live in Munich, where I jump into the river or one of its many lakes at every chance I get.

Studies

I hold a BA in Industrial Design from the University of Canberra, where I focused on digital design and wearables. Driven by a passion for fashion and trend forecasting, something I am quite good at, I pursued a Master’s in Fashion Marketing Communication at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Barcelona, along with a diploma in UX/UI design and usability from the Usability Academy / UXQB. Beyond my formal education, I have also studied photography, worked as an apprentice in jewellery making, and participated in workshops on high-end image retouching and more recently AI prompting.

Experience

With over twenty years of experience in art direction, brand communication, user experience, interface design, and usability, my journey began as a Product Designer at Grey Mexico. This path led me to Grey-Atletico in Barcelona, where I started as a designer and, with the support of an incredible team of brilliant creatives, worked my way up to Senior Art Director. There, my work focused primarily on SEAT (VW Group), contributing to the brand’s successful repositioning in 2012. I then joined Stereolize, collaborating with true masters of 3D and animation, to create award-winning interactive presentations. Later, as Head of Design at Metzler:Vater, leading a small but mighty design team, shaping the creative output while working with brands like Capgemini, BMW, BMW Motorrad, BSH, Microsoft, MINI and Porsche. I have also worked with various agencies as a freelancer, gaining experience across industries and creative disciplines.

Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with world-class photographers, film directors, CGI and image retouch artists, editors, illustrators, producers, models, prop masters, stylists, plastic, programers, UX gurus and media artists, as well as inspiring copywriters, branding experts, strategists, developers and visionaries. I’ve collaborated with those who brought deep expertise, strategic insight, and uncompromising standards. Each experience has gifted me with invaluable knowledge. Above all, I love working with people who are passionate about what they do—whatever that might be.
